Aurora blows out Stouffville, 7-1

The Aurora Tigers had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Stouffville Spirit.

Nicholas Erb was all over the ice for Aurora, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Erb scored the first of his two goals short handed at 5:39 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Aurora. The Tigers played down a man on Keaton Ratcliffe's tripping. Erb's next tally short handed made the score 7-1 Aurora with 59 seconds left in the third period. Eric Williams provided the assist.

Aurora pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes.

The Tigers forced Stouffville's goalies to work without much rest, getting 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Aaron Taylor made 31 stops and Conor McCollum made 14. Aurora surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Tigers have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Aurora additionally got points from Cameron Morrison, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Daniel Mantenuto, Drake Board, Michael Laidley, and Liam Neuman, who each put in one. In addition, Aurora received assists from John Curran, who had two and Noah Delmas and Todd Winder, who contributed one each.

The Spirit were held below their usual level of production. Stouffville averages 3.2 goals per game. The Spirit were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 18 penalty minutes.

Stouffville was led by Nick Thomakos, who scored the team's only goal. Thomakos scored on the power play 9:23 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aurora. The Spirit had gained a power play chance when Jordan DaSilva was whistled for cross checking. James Mense-Dietrich picked up the assist.

Marcus Semiao made 20 saves for Aurora on 21 shots. The Tigers registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Stouffville registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For the Spirit, Cameron Lintner was ejected from the game.
