Milton completes comeback, beats Hamilton, 3-2Mountain Arena Mon, Sep 29, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Milton Icehawks climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 3-2. Milton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Icehawks trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Hamilton's Jason OConnor at 8:24 in the first period. Milton tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Alex Riche at 9:55 in the third period. The Icehawks scored the game winner at 16:43 in the third period on a goal by Riche. Milton was led by Sean Perichak, who finished with one goal. The Icehawks kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Bishop made 40 saves on 43 shots. Milton's penalty kill unit could not stop Hamilton's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Milton additionally got points from Riche, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jake Baird, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Milton received assists from Mitch Graham and Jordan Anderson, who each chipped in one. The Red Wings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Milton power plays. The Icehawks were unable to stop Hamilton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Red Wings eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Hamilton was helped by Rylee St. Onge, who registered one goal. St. Onge scored on the power play 3:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. The Red Wings earned a power play opportunity when Marcus Baird was put in the box for high sticking. Ryan Erickson picked up the assist. Hamilton also got points from OConnor, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Milton's Tyler Lewis stopped 42 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Icehawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hamilton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
