Lindsay shrugs off penalties, upends Burlington, 6-3Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Sun, Sep 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burlington Cougars failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Lindsay Muskies shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3. Lindsay was led by Stefan von Engelbrechten, who had one goal and one assist. Von Engelbrechten scored on the power play 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay. The Muskies had gotten the advantage when Burlington's Nathan Fiorino was sent off for cross checking. Austin Brown provided the assist. Lindsay forced Cougars' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 39 shots and forcing 33 saves. Cammeron Radford made 33 stops and Evgueni Makarski made zero. The Muskies excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Lindsay surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Muskies have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Lindsay also got points from Austin Eastman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Keegan Cairns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. James Allen also scored for Lindsay. More assists for Lindsay came via Michael Spataro, who had two and Brandon Washer, John Macdonald, Brock Spear, Matthew Marchese, and Logan DeNoble, who each chipped in one. Lindsay's Boyd Diclemente stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Muskies incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cougars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
