Kingston holds on for 5-3 win against HamiltonSixteen Mile Sports Complex Sun, Sep 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hamilton Red Wings tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Kingston Voyageurs held on for a 5-3 victory. Kingston made the score 5-1 on a goal by Ryan Watson at 18:14 in the second period, and Hamilton got as close as 5-3 when Rylee St. Onge scored 19:05 into the third period. Alex Stothart was all over the ice for the Voyageurs, as he registered two goals in the win. Stothart's tallies came at 12:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 1:48 into the second to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Kingston forced Red Wings' goalies to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots and forcing 28 saves. Mark Sinclair made 18 stops and Alexander Bishop made 10. Kingston also got points from Watson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Cole Bolton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Adam Brady as well. More assists for Kingston came via Adam Moodie, who had two and Josh Hicks, Zachary Emelifeonwu, and Joey Beaudoin, who each chipped in one. The Red Wings stifled the Voyageurs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hamilton was helped by Josh LaFrance, who had one goal. LaFrance scored on the power play 3:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. The Red Wings had gained a power play chance when Watson was whistled for tripping. Ryan Erickson assisted on the tally. Ryan Punkari also scored for Hamilton. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Jonathan Prasnjak, Luke Sinclair, and Jason OConnor, who contributed one each. Matt Penta rejected 24 shots on goal for Kingston. The Voyageurs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hamilton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
