Stouffville outlasts Mississauga, 4-2Sixteen Mile Creek 2 Sun, Sep 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit and the Mississauga Chargers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Stouffville made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyson Bruce at 6:18 of the third period. James Mense-Dietrich had a great game for the Spirit, netting two goals. Mense-Dietrich found the back of the net on the power play 4:36 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and again while 18:56 into the third to make the score 4-2 Stouffville. Stouffville's penalty kill excelled, as the Spirit gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Stouffville stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spirit forced the Chargers goalie Mitchell Heck to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Stouffville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Stouffville also got points from Spencer Roberts, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Colton Sansom, Adam Burnett, Justin Wain, and Nick Thomakos, who each chipped in one. Mississauga could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 25 minutes in penalties during the game. The Chargers were helped by Stefano Alonzi, who finished with one goal. Alonzi scored 9:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mississauga. Vince Figliomeni picked up the assist. Domenic Commisso also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Jordan Addesi and Thomas Lattavo, who contributed one each. Conor McCollum recorded 26 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Mitchell Heck made 35 saves for Mississauga on 38 shots. For the Chargers, Joseph Molinaro was ejected from the game.
