Josh LaFrance scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Hamilton Red Wings held off the challenges of the Wellington Dukes in a tough 4-2 win. LaFrance provided Hamilton with the game-winning tally when he scored 5:38 into the first period. Carl Greco provided the assist.The Red Wings were led by Jonathan Prasnjak, who finished with one goal. Prasnjak scored 19:59 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hamilton. Ryan Erickson picked up the assist. The defensemen of Hamilton were also effective in Wellington's zone, and came away with two goals. Hamilton also got points from LaFrance, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hamilton also had goals scored by Otis Goldman and Jason OConnor, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Ryan Punkari and Giovanni Foschia, who contributed one each. The Dukes' offense rang up 49 shots on the Red Wings' net. Wellington was led by Joe McKeown, who tallied one goal and one assist. McKeown scored on the power play 5:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hamilton. The Red Wings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hamilton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Knight was ejected from the game.
