Kingston boosted by Penta's play in net, beats Wellington 5-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Matt Penta helped the Kingston Voyageurs defeat the Wellington Dukes, 5-1.

Matt Hoover was all over the ice for Kingston, as he tallied two goals in the win. Hoover's tallies came at 17:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kingston and on the power play 14:12 into the second to make the score 5-0 Kingston.

The Voyageurs' penalty kill excelled, as Kingston gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Voyageurs' offense rang up 46 shots on Wellington's net. Kingston's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Voyageurs finished with 34 penalty minutes.

Kingston additionally got points from Cole Bolton, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joey Rutkowski, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Spencer Green, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Kingston came via Ryan Watson, who had two and Josh Hicks, Zachary Emelifeonwu, Colin Tonge, and Adam Moodie, who each chipped in one.

The Dukes were held below their usual level of production. Wellington averages 3.1 goals per game. The Dukes forced Kingston goalie Penta to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Penta recorded 35 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Taylor Welsh made 41 saves for Wellington on 46 shots. The Dukes incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
