Penta, Kingston blank Stouffville, 4-0

Matt Penta made 25 saves to complete the shutout and led the Kingston Voyageurs to a 4-0 win against the Stouffville Spirit.

Kingston pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 41 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:53 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Voyageurs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Kingston forced Stouffville goalie Conor McCollum to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Voyageurs were helped by Alex Stothart, who tallied one goal and one assist. Stothart scored 7:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kingston. Kingston also got a goal from Adam Brady as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Michael Crocock, who had two and Blake ONeill and Rory McGuire, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Stouffville surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Spirit's offense operated below their season average. Stouffville puts an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Kingston registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. For the Voyageurs, Joey Rutkowski and McGuire were ejected from the contest. Conor McCollum made 33 saves for the Spirit on 37 shots. Stouffville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brady Baker was ejected from the game.
