Pickering beats Lindsay 6-5 after comeback scarePickering Recreation Complex Fri, Sep 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Pickering Panthers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5. Pickering took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Lindsay storm back on a Logan DeNoble goal 11 seconds into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Panthers got the win with help from a great game by BJ Salerno, who had two goals and one assist. Salerno scored the first of his two goals at 8:22 into the third period to make the score 5-5. Joseph Mitchell picked up the assist. Salerno's next tally made the score 6-5 Pickering with 10:22 left in the third period. A high sticking penalty on Mathew Lewis had put Pickering on the power play. Kevin Dimagno assisted on the tally. The Panthers forced the Muskies goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Pickering also got points from Nicholas Lepone, who also registered one goal and one assist and Riley Devine, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Pickering included Michael Giacometti and Cam Palmer, who each put in one. More assists for Pickering came via Lucas Condotta, Dalton Lawrence, Mark Tenuta, Chris Sekelyk, and Matteo Condotta, who each chipped in one. Lindsay's offense rang up 33 shots on Pickering's net. Matthew Marchese also scored for Lindsay. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Keegan Cairns, who had two and Michael Spataro, Joseph Vocino, Brandon Washer, and Connor Annett, who contributed one each. Jordan Cartney recorded 28 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Condotta was ejected from the game. The Muskies' Diclemente stopped 26 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Lindsay incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
