Oakville survives Buffalo comeback, wins 4-2

The Oakville Blades, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and clinched a 4-2 victory.

Oakville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Blades' Jackson Bales scored short handed at 16:26 in the second period to put Oakville up 3-0.

The Blades' penalty kill excelled, as Oakville gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Blades' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Oakville had been spending in the box. The Blades stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Oakville's offense rang up 42 shots on the Jr. Sabres' net.

The Blades were helped by Greg Campbell, who had one goal. Campbell scored on the power play 2:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Oakville earned a power play opportunity when Bray Crowder was put in the box for hooking. Kamil Tkaczuk assisted on the tally. Oakville also got points from Brandon Hughes, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ryan Burns, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Oakville came via Ryan Markovic and Ross Sloan, who contributed one each.

Buffalo was helped by Kenny Tencza, who finished with one goal. Tencza scored 17:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. Tim Nicksic also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Collin Farrell, who had one.

Daniel Mannella recorded 14 saves for the Blades. Oakville registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Blades, Sean Kohler was ejected from the game. Alex Connal made 38 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 42 shots. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
