Hladin nets hat trick, leads Georgetown to 6-3 win over Newmarket

Steve Hladin lifted the Georgetown Raiders to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Newmarket Hurricanes.

Hladin got on the scoresheet 19:59 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:38 into the third and at 17:59 into the third.

Newmarket was unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Georgetown also had goals scored by Scott Emerson, Brendan Jacome, and Josh Dickinson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Jordan Brown, who had two, Eric Eustace, who had three, and Gavin Shantz, Carmine Alberga, and Andrew Court, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes were helped by Ryan Young, who tallied one goal. Young scored on the power play 11:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket. Newmarket earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Allan was put in the box for head contact. Ryan Shaw assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Newmarket included Sam Hu and Cameron Nicoll, who each put in one. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Jordan Oshowy, who had two and Nick Boddy, Curtis Harvey, and Taylor Joseph, who each chipped in one.

Jack LaFontaine recorded 24 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Hurricanes' Tyler Richardson stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Newmarket incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Hurricanes, Christian Cella was ejected from the game.
