Toronto Patriots wins tough contest against Stouffville, 5-3

The Toronto Patriots Patriots and the Stouffville Spirit were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto Patriots made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nicholas Geiser at 11:35 of the third period.

Marco Bozzo was all over the ice for the Patriots, as he tallied two goals in the win. Bozzo scored on the power play at 7:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Patriots and again while on the power play 6:53 into the second to make the score 2-1 Toronto Patriots.

Toronto Patriots stifled Stouffville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spirit were unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Patriots eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Toronto Patriots also got points from Marcus Rose, who also had one goal and one assist. Toronto Patriots also got a goal from Jacob Hayhurst as well. In addition, Toronto Patriots received assists from Louis DiMatteo, Quinn Syrydiuk, and Matthew Cairns, who each chipped in one and Tyler Currie and Niko Kovachis, who contributed two each.

Stouffville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Spirit were helped by Nick Thomakos, who racked up one goal. Thomakos scored 10:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tyson Bruce provided the assist. Stouffville additionally got points from Bruce, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nathan Hudgin also scored for Stouffville. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Brodie Tutton and Kyler Challis, who each chipped in one.

Mathew Robson rejected 19 shots on goal for the Patriots. Toronto Patriots incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Conor McCollum recorded 28 saves for Stouffville. The Spirit registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
