Aurora holds on for 4-2 win against StouffvilleStouffville Arena Sat, Sep 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Aurora Tigers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Stouffville Spirit on the way to a 4-2 win. Aurora made the score 4-1 on a goal by Michael Laidley at 9:32 in the third period, and Stouffville got as close as 4-2 when Nick Thomakos scored 10:01 into the third period. The Spirit's power play was ineffective against the Tigers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Aurora was helped by Nicholas Erb, who racked up one goal. Erb scored on the power play 5:25 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Aurora. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when Stouffville's Robert Clark was sent off for cross checking. Keaton Ratcliffe assisted on the tally. Aurora also had goals scored by Cameron Morrison and Liam Neuman, who each put in one. In addition, Aurora received assists from Callum Fryer, Daniel Mantenuto, Drake Board, Nolan Dunn, Eric Williams, and Todd Winder, who contributed one each. The Spirit's offense rang up 33 shots on Aurora's net. Stouffville also got a goal from Kyler Challis as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Tyson Bruce, who had two. Andy Munroe rejected 31 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Stouffville's Aaron Taylor stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Spirit incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
