Pickering holds on for 4-3 win against StouffvillePickering Recreation Complex Fri, Sep 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stouffville Spirit tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Pickering Panthers held on for a 4-3 victory. Pickering made the score 4-2 on a goal by Mark Tenuta at 18:47 in the third period, and Stouffville got as close as 4-3 when Matthew Dunlop scored 19:45 into the third period. Nicholas Lepone was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he racked up two goals in the win. Lepone scored at 12:25 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pickering and again while 19:39 into the second to make the score 3-1 Pickering. Michael Giacometti also scored for Pickering. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Kevin Dimagno, who had two and John Hudgin, Cam Palmer, Lucas Condotta, Dalton Lawrence, and Daniel Butchart, who contributed one each. The Spirit were led by Nathan Hudgin, who had one goal and one assist. Hudgin scored 18:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Matt Tustin picked up the assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Alex Gilmour as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Chad Burrows and Robert Clark, who each chipped in one. Jordan Cartney made 27 saves for Pickering on 30 shots. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and had no power play opportunities. Pickering ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lawrence was ejected from the game. Conor McCollum rejected 22 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
