Mississauga holds on for 6-5 win against Toronto Patriots

The Mississauga Chargers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Toronto Patriots Patriots on the way to a 6-5 win.

A goal by Stefano Alonzi put Mississauga up 6-4 in the third period, but Toronto Patriots pulled to within one on Brett Markham's tally 18:08 into the third period.

Alonzi had a great game for the Chargers, netting two goals.

Mississauga bested its season scoring average. This season, the Chargers average 3.6 goals per contest. Mississauga got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Mississauga also got points from Marco Mattina, who also registered one goal and one assist, Daniel Volpe, who also had one goal and one assist, and Thomas Lattavo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Austin Broadhurst as well. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Joseph Spina, Zach Sternbach, and Austin Galli, who contributed one each and Joseph Molinaro, Vince Figliomeni, and Mitch Mehling, who each chipped in two.

The Patriots forced the Chargers goalie Alex Lepore to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Toronto Patriots was helped by Jeremy Pullara, who racked up two goals. Pullara scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Patriots. The Patriots had gained a power play chance when Galli was whistled for cross checking. Mario Ferraro provided the assist. Pullara's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Toronto Patriots with 9:19 left in the first period. Toronto Patriots had taken the advantage when Mississauga's Lattavo got sent off for tripping. Marco Bozzo picked up the assist. Nicholas Ursitti also scored for Toronto Patriots. More assists for Toronto Patriots came via Jacob Hayhurst, who had two and Marcus Rose, Luke Carter, Nicholas Geiser, and Dede Cato, who contributed one each.

Lepore rejected 27 shots on goal for the Chargers. Mississauga incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Emanuel Vella recorded 15 saves for the Patriots. Toronto Patriots incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
