Orangeville completes comeback, beats Hamilton, 5-4

The Orangeville Flyers climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 5-4.

Orangeville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Flyers was down 3-0 after a short handed goal by Hamilton's Jeff Joynt at 14:53 in the first period. Orangeville knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Connor Stack at 13:56 in the second period. The Flyers scored the game winner at 3:59 in the third period on a goal by Stack.

Ian Nichols was all over the ice for Orangeville, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Nichols scored the first of his two goals at 2:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hamilton. Nichols' next tally made the score 3-2 Hamilton with 14:29 left in the second period. Ryan Anton assisted on the tally.

The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hamilton power plays. The Red Wings were unable to stop Orangeville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Orangeville additionally got points from Stack, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Anton, who also had one goal and one assist, and Lucas Smilsky, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Shawn Topatigh, who had one.

Hamilton stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Red Wings forced the Flyers goalie Nicholas Latinovich to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Hamilton was led by Otis Goldman, who registered two goals. Goldman scored the first of his two goals short handed at 14:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hamilton. The Red Wings were on a disadvantage when Joel Knight went off the ice for roughing. Goldman's next tally short handed made the score 5-4 Orangeville with 1:17 left in the third period. Jason OConnor provided the assist. Laine McKay also scored for Hamilton. Other players who recorded assists for Hamilton were Ryan Erickson, who had one.

Latinovich rejected 28 shots on goal for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mark Sinclair made 39 saves for Hamilton on 44 shots. The Red Wings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
