Stouffville rolls over Mississauga, 5-2

The Stouffville Spirit were firing on all cylinders against the Mississauga Chargers, and when the final buzzer sounded Spirit emerged with a 5-2 win.

Stouffville's penalty kill excelled, as the Spirit gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Stouffville was led by Joseph Deveny, who finished with one goal. Deveny scored 11:52 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Stouffville. Alex Gilmour picked up the assist.

The Spirit stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stouffville's offense rang up 43 shots on the Chargers' net. The Spirit could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Stouffville also got points from Tyson Bruce, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Nick Thomakos, who also had one goal and one assist. Stouffville also had goals scored by Chad Burrows and Christopher Brill-Morgan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Matthew Dunlop, who had one and Adam Burnett, who had two.

Mississauga was helped by Vince Figliomeni, who registered one goal. Figliomeni scored 6:29 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. Tyler Cooper provided the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Jordan Addesi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Marco Mattina, Austin Galli, and Daniel Volpe, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville's Aaron Taylor stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Spirit registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Alex Lepore made 38 saves for the Chargers on 43 shots. Mississauga incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Chargers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Addesi was ejected from the game.
