Pickering rolls over Burlington, 6-2

The Pickering Panthers were firing on all cylinders against the Burlington Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Panthers emerged with a 6-2 win.

Pickering was paced by Riley Devine, who racked up one goal. Devine scored 18:30 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Pickering. Chris Sekelyk picked up the assist.

Burlington was unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Pickering eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Panthers got their opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of their 15 chances. Pickering struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for two opposing power plays.

Pickering also got points from Kevin Dimagno, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dalton Lawrence, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Lepone, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Pickering also had goals scored by Cam Palmer and Brendan Hancock, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pickering received assists from Riley Katsumi, Owen Scuralli, and Daniel Butchart, who each chipped in one.

The Cougars stifled the Panthers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Burlington could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cougars were led by Wyatt Trainer, who had two goals. Trainer scored the first of his two goals at 5:26 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Louis Vlahakis assisted on the tally. Trainer's next tally made the score 6-2 Pickering with 13:32 left in the third period. Burlington played down a man on David Kiss's slashing.

Jordan Cartney rejected 13 shots on goal for Pickering. Cammeron Radford recorded 33 saves for the Cougars.
