Behind a great game by Sam Hu, who had two goals, the Newmarket Hurricanes defeated the Mississauga Chargers, 5-1. Hu scored short handed at 8:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Newmarket and again while 17:21 into the second to make the score 3-1 Newmarket.Newmarket's penalty kill excelled, as the Hurricanes gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. Newmarket stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hurricanes' offense rang up 43 shots on the Chargers' net. Others who scored for Newmarket included Curtis Harvey, Dallas Baird, and Joseph Mizzi, who scored one goal each. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Christian Dedonato, who had two, Nik Coric, who had three, and Jordan Oshowy, Cameron Nicoll, Jacob Piltzmaker, and Anthony Salemi, who contributed one each. Mississauga did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Chargers put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Mississauga was led by Joseph Molinaro, who scored the team's only goal. Molinaro scored 1:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. Thomas Lattavo assisted on the tally. Connor Ryckman rejected 19 shots on goal for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alex Lepore made 38 saves for the Chargers on 43 shots. Mississauga incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Chargers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Molinaro was ejected from the game.
