Milton erases deficit to stun Orangeville, 5-4

The Milton Icehawks climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Orangeville Flyers, 5-4.

Milton let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Icehawks took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Jake Baird at 14:22 in the second period. Milton went down 2-0 after Orangeville's Lucas Smilsky put the puck home at 11:46 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Smilsky at 18:48 in the second, the Icehawks got the game-winner from Baird at 8:40 in the third period.

Milton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Icehawks average 2.4 goals per contest.

Milton also got points from Alex Riche, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Milton also got a goal from Mitch Graham as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Sean Perichak, who had two and Dawson Shackelton, Kevin Fitzpatrick, and Brendan Doherty, who contributed one each.

The Flyers forced Milton goalie Tyler Lewis to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Orangeville also had goals scored by Ryan Anton and Darren Nesbitt, who scored one goal each. More assists for Orangeville came via Connor Stack, who had two and Adam Giacomin, Ian Nichols, and Derek Topatigh, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Lewis made 42 saves for the Icehawks on 46 shots. Milton totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Icehawks, Johnathon Schaefer and Doherty were ejected from the contest. Wyatt Pickrell rejected 25 shots on goal for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Orangeville, Matthew Barnes was ejected from the game.
