Thayer Academy's comeback falls short, St. Andrews College wins 5-3St. Sebastians School Sat, Dec 20, 2014 The St. Andrews College Saints came close to giving away a five-goal lead to Thayer Academy, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. St. Andrews College led by five goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Saints' Alex MacDonald scored at 4:13 in the second period to put St. Andrews College up 5-0. The Saints were helped by Emil Hiiri, who tallied one goal. Hiiri scored 16:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Andrews College. Mac Lewis picked up the assist. St. Andrews College also had goals scored by Justin Fregona, Quentin Campbell, and Austin Cho, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from JD Falconer, Jacob Miller, Linden Sturrock, and Mitchell Martan, who contributed one each. Thayer Academy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Andrews College to score on any of its three power plays. Thayer Academy was helped by Ryan Pfeffer, who registered one goal. Pfeffer scored on the power play 20:16 into the second period to make the score 5-3 St. Andrews College. Lincoln Griffin provided the assist. Thayer Academy also got points from Monte Graham, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Casey Carreau also scored for Thayer Academy. Other players who recorded assists for Thayer Academy were Robert Carmody, who had one. Matthew Galajda made 20 saves for the Saints on 23 shots. St. Andrews College incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mike Royer rejected 17 shots on goal for Thayer Academy. Thayer Academy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
