Caledonia rides Furlong to victory over St. Catharines, 4-1

The Caledonia Corvairs relied on the sparkling performance of Colin Furlong in net to grab a 4-1 win against the St. Catharines Falcons.

With the win, Caledonia evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Corvairs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Caledonia was sparked by Jeffrey Malott, who had one goal and one assist. Malott scored 11:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. Jayme Forslund assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:02 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Caledonia additionally got points from Cody Brown, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Connor Murphy, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Caledonia also got a goal from Connor Patton as well. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jordan Peacock, Ryan Blunt, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed one each.

St. Catharines was led by Greg Jambrosich, who scored the team's only goal. Jambrosich scored 15:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brennan Feasey picked up the assist.

Colin Furlong made 29 saves for Caledonia on 30 shots. The Corvairs registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For Caledonia, Mitch Green (AP) was ejected from the game. Knick Dawe recorded 21 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines ended with 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. Team's Mark Rodgers and Feasey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
