Aurora downs Kingston, 7-4

Johnny Curran racked up one point to lead the Aurora Tigers to a 7-4 victory over the Kingston Voyageurs.

The win gave Aurora a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

In a losing effort, Kingston was paced by Michael Casale, who registered two goals. Casale scored the first of his two goals at 5:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Brett Seney assisted on the tally. Casale's next tally made the score 3-3 with 16:14 left in the third period. Adam Brady provided the assist.

The Tigers forced the Voyageurs' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. Sam Tanguay made 25 stops and Alex Brooks-Potts made 12.

Aurora also got points from Taylor McCloy, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Curtis Warren, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aurora included Kory Kennedy, Adam DiBrina, and Robert Angiolella, who scored one goal each. More assists for Aurora came via Tyler Boston and Calvin Higley, who contributed one each and Travis Barron and Mihkel Poldma, who each chipped in two.

Kingston forced Aurora goalie Andy Munroe to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Kingston also had goals scored by Brandon OQuinn and Brody Heleno, who each put in one. In addition, Kingston received assists from Spencer Green, who had two and Michael Crocock, Patrick Volpe, Alex Tonge, and Jarret Kup, who contributed one each.

Munroe recorded 37 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Voyageurs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kingston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Spencer Lee was ejected from the game.
