McNeely's big game bests Fresno Monsters in 3-1 Phoenix Knights win

Ryan McNeely was all over the ice for Phoenix Knights, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Phoenix Knights' 3-1 win over Fresno Monsters.

McNeely scored on the power play 9:52 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Phoenix Knights. Phoenix Knights had taken the advantage when Fresno Monsters' Anthony Pena got sent off for holding. Nick Kujawa picked up the assist. McNeely dished an assist on Max Mahood's goal that made the score 2-0 Phoenix Knights at 1:12 into the third period. He added another helper on Mattias Marten's goal that made the score 3-1 Phoenix Knights at 19:44 into the third period.

Phoenix Knights' penalty kill excelled, as Phoenix Knights gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Phoenix Knights stifled Fresno Monsters' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Phoenix Knights' offense was handcuffed by Fresno Monsters' defensive play, and Phoenix Knights managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. Phoenix Knights' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Phoenix Knights finished with 20 penalty minutes.

Other players who recorded assists for Phoenix Knights were Mitch Cobby, who had one.

Fresno Monsters did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Fresno Monsters averages 5.0 goals per game. Fresno Monsters struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Fresno Monsters was led by Mike Fabie, who scored the team's only goal. Fabie scored 5:13 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Phoenix Knights. Alex Schwartz assisted on the tally.

Luke Stripp made 16 saves for Phoenix Knights on 17 shots. Jerry Kaukinen rejected 11 shots on goal for Fresno Monsters.
