Fresno Monsters shrugs off penalties, upends Texas, 6-3Sierra Providence EC Wed, Apr 02, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, Fresno Monsters was able to defeat Texas, 6-3. Fresno Monsters was led by Austin Browning, who tallied one goal. Browning scored 16:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno Monsters. Evan Ingram assisted on the tally. Fresno Monsters racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Fresno Monsters surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Fresno Monsters kept Texas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Oliver Eklund made 33 saves on 39 shots. Texas earned a power play opportunity when Dircks was put in the box for checking from behind. Landyn Howze provided the assist. Ensor's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Fresno Monsters with 6:44 left in the third period. Michael Brown picked up the assist. Texas also got a goal from Anatoly Uspenyev as well. More assists for Texas came via Eric Lewis, who had one and Austin Murray, who had two. Fresno Monsters' Austin Piquette stopped 13 shots out of the 16 that he faced.
