Ogden Mustangs stifles Idaho Junior Steelheads' comeback, gains 5-3 victory

Idaho Junior Steelheads almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but Ogden Mustangs managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Ogden Mustangs led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Ogden Mustangs' Brody Decker scored at 16:07 in the first period to put Ogden Mustangs up 3-0.

Simon Teodorsson had two goals and two assists to lead Ogden Mustangs. Teodorsson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ogden Mustangs. An interference penalty on Dak Dice had put Ogden Mustangs on the power play. George Babos assisted on the tally. Teodorsson's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Ogden Mustangs with 16:24 left in the first period. Martin Hallin picked up the assist.

Idaho Junior Steelheads was unable to stop Ogden Mustangs from sending pucks towards the net, and Ogden Mustangs eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Ogden Mustangs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ogden Mustangs additionally got points from Schuyler Seyfert, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Craig Moore also scored for Ogden Mustangs. In addition, Ogden Mustangs received assists from Sean Haltam, who had one and Cam Russell, who had two.

Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Ogden Mustangs goalie Tyler Fallica to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads found itself short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Idaho Junior Steelheads was led by Jesper Jensen, who registered one goal and one assist. Jensen scored on the power play 19:39 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Ogden Mustangs. Idaho Junior Steelheads had gotten the advantage when Ogden Mustangs' Tommy Pokorney was sent off for roughing. Hunter Lester provided the assist. Idaho Junior Steelheads also got points from Dice, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Idaho Junior Steelheads also got a goal from Randy Patzner as well. More assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads came via Anton Virtanen and Dimitris Jones, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Fallica made 32 saves for Ogden Mustangs on 35 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads' Sean Healy stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Idaho Junior Steelheads registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
