Cobourg holds on for 2-1 win against Aurora

The Aurora Tigers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cobourg Cougars would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Cobourg made the score 2-0 on a goal by Jake Emilio at 17:28 in the second period, and Aurora got as close as 2-1 when Dylan Sikura scored 15:35 into the third period.

With the win, the Cougars evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

Cobourg's Nathan Perry was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Perry certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.74 entering the contest.

The Cougars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Tigers to score on any of their four power plays. Cobourg forced Aurora goalie Kevin Entmaa to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Cobourg additionally got points from Landon Schiller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Cobourg came via Stuart King, who had one.

The Cougars were unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

In addition, Aurora received assists from Taylor McCloy, who had one.

Cobourg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Entmaa rejected 35 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
