Caledonia blows out Thorold, 6-1

The Caledonia Corvairs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Thorold Blackhawks.

The win by Caledonia clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Corvairs' penalty kill excelled, as Caledonia gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Corvairs were paced by Matt Quilty, who registered one goal. Quilty scored 8:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Jake Brown assisted on the tally.

Caledonia forced Thorold's netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Brendan Polasek made 25 stops and Ian Shorthouse made three.

Caledonia additionally got points from Cosimo Fontana, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brown, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Caledonia also had goals scored by Cody Brown and Connor Murphy, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Ryan Blunt, who had two and Ryan Moran, Spencer Gourlay, Chance MacDonald, Mitch Brown, and Kyler Nixon, who contributed one each.

Colin Furlong recorded 22 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Blackhawks incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
