Melbourne Whalers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over Perth Pelicans.

Melbourne Whalers got the win with help from a great game by Tommy Roberts, who had one goal and three assists. Roberts scored 11:07 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Melbourne Whalers. Paul Lazzarotto assisted on the tally.

Melbourne Whalers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Perth Pelicans power plays. By firing 22 shots on goal, Melbourne Whalers exceeded the 2.8 shots it averages per game this year. Melbourne Whalers surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Melbourne Whalers averages 2.9 goals per contest.

Melbourne Whalers also got points from Lazzarotto, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Christopher Wong, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Melbourne Whalers also had goals scored by Austin McKenzie and Ethan Cornford, who each put in one.
