Martin nets hat trick, leads Almonte Thunder to 4-0 win over Renfrew Timberwolves

Luke Martin netted a hat trick to lead Almonte Thunder over Renfrew Timberwolves, 4-0.

Martin's first goal came 19:08 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:46 into the third and at 9:52 into the third.

The win by Almonte Thunder broke a deadlock and gave Almonte Thunder a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Almonte Thunder was boosted by Alex Daley, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Daley certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.46 entering the contest.

Almonte Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Renfrew Timberwolves to score on any of its five power plays.

Almonte Thunder also got points from Andrew Rowbotham, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Almonte Thunder received assists from Jordan Bosely, who had one, Brandon Mendham, who had two, and Tyler McKechnie, who had three.

Renfrew Timberwolves' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Almonte Thunder's power play unit.

Almonte Thunder incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Renfrew Timberwolves' starting goalie, Matt Gagne, made 17 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Matt Schroeder, who stopped three shots. Renfrew Timberwolves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Renfrew Timberwolves, Matt Gagne was ejected from the game.
