Pullia's goals lift Ayr to 3-1 victory over Paris

Behind a great game by Anthony Pullia, who had two goals, the Ayr Centennials defeated the Paris Mounties, 3-1.

Pullia scored on the power play at 4:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ayr and again while 19:09 into the third to make the score 3-1 Ayr.

With the win, Ayr evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Centennials were led by goalie Mitch Figueirdo, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Figueirdo certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.65 entering the contest.

Ayr pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 35 penalty minutes.

The Centennials kept Paris' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Shomphe made 32 saves on 35 shots. Ayr's penalty kill managed to stymie the Mounties' power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down.

Riley Clipper also scored for Ayr. In addition, Ayr received assists from Mike McKnight, who had two and Rob Grant (AP), Jake Whibbs, and Andrew Richard, who contributed one a piece.

Paris managed to hold the Centennials' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Ayr was unable to stop the Mounties from sending pucks towards the net, and Paris eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Mounties were led by Brodie Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored on the power play 19:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Paris had taken the advantage when the Centennials' Richard got sent off for hooking. Ian Fowler provided the assist.

Ayr ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mac Kemp was ejected from the game. The Mounties incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
