Thorold holds on for 2-1 win against Ancaster

The Ancaster Avalanche tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Thorold Blackhawks held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Zach McQuade put Thorold up 2-0 in the third period, but Ancaster pulled to within one on Christopher Klack's tally 18:40 into the third period.

The win by the Blackhawks clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Thorold was led by McQuade, who racked up one goal and one assist. McQuade scored 17 seconds into the third period to make the score Thorold. Drake Hart assisted on the tally.

Thorold also got a goal from Owen Sobchak as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Joe Mitchell and Kyle Tanev, who contributed one a piece.

The Avalanche excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

More assists for Ancaster came via Zach Nieminen, who had one.

Brendan Polasek rejected 20 shots on goal for the Blackhawks. Thorold incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Calas recorded 23 saves for Ancaster. The Avalanche incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
