London downs Sarnia, 6-3

The London Nationals won 6-3 over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

The win gave London a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Nationals kept Sarnia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Johnson made 32 saves on 38 shots. London had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

The Nationals were led by Derek Todosichuk, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Todosichuk scored on the power play 18:20 into the second period to make the score 4-1 London. London earned a power play opportunity when Jay Clarke was put in the box for tripping. Paul Hopkins assisted on the tally. London also got points from Mike Whaley, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Wildman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. London also had goals scored by Ryan Wells, Chris Maton, and Nik Passero, who scored one goal each. More assists for London came via Matt Doty, Ryan Shipley, Tristen Elie, and Mark Gazdic, who each chipped in one.

The Legionnaires forced the Nationals goalie Jacob Riley to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Others who scored for Sarnia included Josh Kestner and Ryan Vendramin, who each put in one. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Nathan Mater, who had two and Cody Trowell, Riley Babkirk, and Tyler Prong, who contributed one a piece.

Riley rejected 28 shots on goal for London. The Nationals incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Sarnia incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
