North York's Kalk deadly on offense in 3-1 win against St. Michaels

The North York Rangers relied on the scoring touch of Corey Kalk, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 3-1.

Kalk found the back of the net 9:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York and again while 8:37 into the third to make the score 3-1 North York.

The win by North York clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Rangers were led by goalie Jason Pucciarelli, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Pucciarelli certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.14 entering the contest.

Gabriel Valenzuela also scored for North York. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Adam Valadao, who had two and Patrick Piacentini, Matthew Whittaker, and John Carpino, who contributed one each.

St. Michaels forced North York goalie Pucciarelli to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Buzzers were led by David Italiano, who scored the team's only goal. Italiano scored on the power play 8:36 into the second period to make the score 1-1. St. Michaels had taken the advantage when the Rangers' Christian Zanetti got sent off for tripping. Jake Evans picked up the assist.

North York incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. George Argiropoulos recorded 25 saves for the Buzzers. St. Michaels incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
