Kingston blows out Pickering, 7-3

The Kingston Voyageurs had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Pickering Panthers.

The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Michael Casale had two goals and one assist to lead the Voyageurs. Casale scored the first of his two goals at 28 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kingston. Brandon OQuinn picked up the assist. Casale's next tally made the score 2-0 Kingston with 13:39 left in the first period. Michael Crocock provided the assist.

Kingston forced Pickering's goalies to work all game long, totaling 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Steven Dombrosky made 24 stops and Greg Zupan made 10. The Voyageurs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Kingston also got points from Brett Seney, who also tallied one goal and two assists, OQuinn, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Alex Tonge, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Brody Heleno as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Spencer Green, who had two, Adam Brady, who had three, and Cole Bolton and Jarret Kup, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers were helped by Brodie Tutton, who racked up one goal. Tutton scored 12:17 into the third period to make the score 6-3 Kingston. Pickering also had goals scored by Keegan Ackerland and Doug Carter, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pickering came via Cam Palmer, Michael Walker, and Nicholas Lepone, who contributed one each.

Sam Tanguay recorded 21 saves for Kingston. The Voyageurs incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pickering incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
