Dubblestyne stymies Whitby, Trenton wins 4-1

The Trenton Golden Hawks relied on the sparkling performance of Denny Dubblestyne in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Whitby Fury.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Whitby faces elimination next time out.

Trenton was paced by Tyler Donaldson, who registered one goal and one assist. Donaldson scored 11:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Hunter Fargey assisted on the tally.

The Golden Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Trenton's offense rang up 40 shots on the Fury's net.

Trenton also got points from Fargey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Fabrizio Ricci and Zach de Concilys, who scored one goal each. In addition, Trenton received assists from Mathew Thompson, Shaquille Hickey, Nick Santoro, and Tyler Sehovic, who each chipped in one.

Whitby stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Fury kept Trenton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dubblestyne made 31 saves on 32 shots.

Whitby was led by Henry Thompson, who scored the team's only goal. Thompson scored 12:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Adam Clements provided the assist.

The Golden Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tyler Feaver made 36 saves for the Fury on 39 shots. Whitby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
