Perry leads Cobourg to shutout victory over WellingtonWellington CC Fri, Feb 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Nathan Perry made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led the Cobourg Cougars to a 1-0 win against the Wellington Dukes. The win gave Cobourg a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Nick Neal's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 9:41 in the third period. Theo Lewis picked up the assist. Wellington's power play was ineffective against the Cougars' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Kieran Milne, who had one. The Dukes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their five power plays. Cobourg incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Neal was ejected from the game. Tyson Teichmann made 25 saves for Wellington on 26 shots. The Dukes incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
