Chatham rides Keogh to victory over Strathroy, 4-1

Jacob Keogh stood on his head and made 39 saves to lead the Chatham Maroons to a 4-1 victory over the Strathroy Rockets.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Strathroy faces elimination next time out.

The Rockets' power play was ineffective against Chatham's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Maroons were paced by Charlie Izaguirre, who finished with one goal. Izaguirre scored on the power play 7:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. A cross checking penalty on Matt Laberge had put Chatham on the power play. Steven Szekesy assisted on the tally.

The Maroons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Chatham also got points from Kyle Brothers, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Szekesy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Michael Verboom, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Chatham received assists from Tanner Ferguson, who had two and Nate Pietens and Adam Arseneault, who contributed one a piece.

Strathroy's offense rang up 40 shots on Chatham's net.

The Rockets were led by Tyler Duarte, who scored the team's only goal. Duarte scored 5:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Chase Thornton picked up the assist.

The Maroons incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jack Moylan made 23 saves for Strathroy on 27 shots. The Rockets incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
