Kobryn's big game bests Brampton in 4-1 Elmira winDan Snyder Memorial Wed, Feb 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Brad Kobryn was all over the ice for the Elmira Sugar Kings, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Elmira's 4-1 win over the Brampton Bombers. Kobryn scored at 9:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira and again while on the power play 18:26 into the second to make the score 4-1 Elmira.The win gave the Sugar Kings a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:20 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Elmira put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brampton to score on any of its four power plays. The Bombers were unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Others who scored for Elmira included Mitch Wright and Stephen Jablonski, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from David Savery, who had one, Adam Brubacher, who had two, and Adam Campagnolo, who had three. Brampton was led by Brandon Clelland, who scored the team's only goal. Clelland scored 10:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Reid Jackman assisted on the tally. Hayden Neuman rejected 22 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Sugar Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cash Seraphim was ejected from the game. The Bombers' Scott Patton stopped 43 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Brampton ended with 41 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Bombers, Chris Maione and Josh Villaflor were ejected from the contest.
