Arnprior Packers beats Almonte Thunder 4-3 after comeback scare

Almonte Thunder tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Arnprior Packers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Arnprior Packers took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Almonte Thunder storm back on a Ben Wade goal 6:32 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win by Arnprior Packers broke a deadlock and gave Arnprior Packers a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Jake Gaudet was all over the ice for Arnprior Packers, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Arnprior Packers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Arnprior Packers additionally got points from Damian Armstrong, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Arnprior Packers also got a goal from Nick Wysman as well. In addition, Arnprior Packers received assists from John McLean, who had two and Ty Fleming, Brayden Harvey, Michael McGrath, and Corey Chaplin, who each chipped in one.

Almonte Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Arnprior Packers to score on any of its three power plays. Almonte Thunder forced Arnprior Packers goalie Erik Miksik to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Almonte Thunder also got points from Tyler McKechnie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Andrew Rowbotham also scored for Almonte Thunder. Other players who recorded assists for Almonte Thunder were Kane Abbis-Mills, Cameron Cornwall, Luke Martin, and Brock Saunders, who contributed one a piece.

Miksik rejected 28 shots on goal for Arnprior Packers. Arnprior Packers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Almonte Thunder's Alex Daley stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Almonte Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
