Dorchester downs Thamesford in overtime, 8-7 (OT)

Matt Ross gave the Dorchester Dolphins an 8-7 (OT) victory over the Thamesford Trojans when he scored 1:17 into the extra period.

The win by Dorchester clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The Dolphins overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Dorchester was down 6-4 after a goal by Thamesford's Stavros Mandrapilias at 3:13 in the third period. The Dolphins tied things up at 7-7 on a power play goal by James Toye at 18:34 in the third period.

Ross had two goals and two assists to lead Dorchester. Ross scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dorchester. The Dolphins had gained a power play chance when Daniel Green was whistled for roughing. Gus Ford assisted on the tally. Ross' next tally on the power play made the score 8-7 Dorchester with 18:43 left in overtime. Shayne Rhyno picked up the assist.

Dorchester's offense rang up 51 shots on the Trojans' net. The Dolphins capitalized on Thamesford's penalties, netting four goals while skating with a man advantage. The defensemen of Dorchester were also effective in the Trojans' zone, and came away with two goals.

Dorchester also got points from Rhyno, who also had one goal and two assists and Ford, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Dorchester also got a goal from Collin Hartwick as well. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Brendon O Shaughnessy, who had two, Liam Gillooly, who had three, and Jordan Fuller and Tommy Prokes, who each chipped in one.

The Dolphins were unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

Thamesford was led by Kyle Walker, who registered one goal and three assists. Walker scored on the power play 7:30 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Thamesford. The Trojans had gotten the advantage when Dorchester's Hartwick was sent off for slashing. Dakota Hill provided the assist. Thamesford additionally got points from Jack Saunders, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Thamesford included Lucas Sims APM and Avery Antone, who scored one goal each. More assists for Thamesford came via Mitch Davies, who had two and Paul Grasby and Liam Billings, who contributed one a piece.

Colton James rejected 41 shots on goal for the Dolphins. Dorchester incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Alex Hutcheson recorded 43 saves for Thamesford. The Trojans incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
