Ford's goals lift Dorchester to 7-2 victory over ThamesfordDorchester Sat, Feb 22, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dorchester Dolphins relied on the scoring touch of Gus Ford, who netted two goals, to beat the Thamesford Trojans, 7-2. Ford scored at 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dorchester and again while 12:28 into the second to make the score 3-1 Dorchester.The win gave Dorchester a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Thamesford's power play was ineffective against the Dolphins' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Trojans were unable to stop Dorchester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dolphins eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Dorchester additionally got points from Cale Duberry, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dorchester included Collin Hartwick, who had two and Shayne Rhyno and Michael Blue (APM), who scored one goal each. More assists for Dorchester came via Tyler Blue, Liam Gillooly, Patrick Freel, Brendon O Shaughnessy, and Bryan McCauley, who each chipped in one and Brady Verougstraete and Tommy Prokes, who contributed two a piece. Thamesford was led by Kyle Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored 1:21 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brad Chambers provided the assist. Thamesford also got a goal from Jack Saunders as well. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Dylan Black, Mitch Davies, and Avery Antone, who each chipped in one. Craig Wood recorded 28 saves for Dorchester. The Dolphins incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Jake Fonti made 33 saves for the Trojans on 40 shots. Thamesford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
