The Lambeth Lancers and the Port Stanley Sailors were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Lambeth made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Warren Hargraves's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. The win gave the Lancers a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Port Stanley's power play was ineffective against Lambeth's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Lancers' offense rang up 41 shots on the Sailors' net. Lambeth additionally got points from Matt Schurr, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Lambeth also had goals scored by Ryan Pennington and Tanner Smith, who each put in one. More assists for Lambeth came via Mike Golinowski, who had two and Kale Corbeth, Brandon Robbins, Trevor Daynes, and Cody Wuytenburg, who each chipped in one. Lambeth was unable to stop Port Stanley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sailors eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Port Stanley was led by Tyson Corkum, who finished with two goals. Corkum scored the first of his two goals short handed at 11:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Sailors played down a man on Mark Brisson's kneeing. Brad Daly picked up the assist. Corkum's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 Port Stanley with 4:56 left in the first period. Anders Adzija assisted on the tally. Port Stanley also got a goal from Josh DenOtter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Brandon Finlay, who had one. JP Trudell made 30 saves for the Lancers on 33 shots. Lambeth incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Lancers, Pennington was ejected from the game. Ricky Corkum recorded 36 saves for Port Stanley. The Sailors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
