The New Hamburg Firebirds pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Ayr Centennials on a clutch goal by Kyle Mohr. The win gave New Hamburg a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Firebirds overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. New Hamburg trailed 2-0 after a goal by Ayr's Jeff Howlett at 2:27 in the second period. The Firebirds tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Howlett at 6:08 in the third period. New Hamburg's offense rang up 32 shots on the Centennials' net. The Firebirds were led by David Jennings, who registered two goals. Jennings scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. A high sticking penalty on Connor Voigt had put New Hamburg on the power play. Jennings' next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 2:41 left in the second period. The Firebirds had gained a power play chance when Voigt was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Tyler Hoffman assisted on the tally. New Hamburg also got a goal from Sean Hergott as well. More assists for New Hamburg came via Kyle McDonald and Brandon Quan, who each chipped in one. Ayr kept New Hamburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Peicheff made 31 saves on 34 shots. Ben Poort also scored for Ayr. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Spencer Sweazy, Anthony Pullia, Logan Beechey, and Mike McKnight, who contributed one a piece. The Firebirds incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For New Hamburg, Garrett Pollock was ejected from the game. Mitch Figueirdo made 28 saves for the Centennials on 32 shots. Ayr incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
