Alliston holds on for 4-3 win against Stayner

The Alliston Hornets survived a determined comeback attempt by the Stayner Siskins on the way to a 4-3 win.

Alliston made the score 4-2 on a goal by Joe Cochrane at 18:51 in the third period, and Stayner got as close as 4-3 when Jesse Anderson scored 19:59 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Siskins face elimination next time out.

The Hornets got the win behind a great game by Dakota Brooks, who had one goal and two assists. Brooks scored on the power play 6:46 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alliston. Alliston earned a power play opportunity when Jason Seeley was put in the box for kneeing. Jacob Tuck picked up the assist.

Alliston additionally got points from David Leblanc, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tuck, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Alliston were Bobby Sloan and Matt Hamilton, who contributed one a piece.

Stayner was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

The Siskins were helped by Ricky Darrell, who registered one goal. Darrell scored short handed 10:09 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alliston. Stayner played down a man on Brett Gauthier's checking from behind. Stayner also got a goal from Kyle Lafreniere as well. In addition, Stayner received assists from Quinton Bruce and Brandon Watson, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Brindle made 20 saves for the Hornets on 23 shots. Alliston incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Taylor Trace recorded 18 saves for the Siskins. Stayner incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Siskins, Gauthier was ejected from the game.
