Penetang downs Schomberg in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Penetang Kings' Ryan Young scored 3:40 into overtime to beat the Schomberg Cougars, 5-4 (OT).

The win by Penetang clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Although the Kings was up by as many as three goals in the second period, Schomberg kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Cougars pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by John Gage at 3:16 in the third period.

Young had two goals to lead Penetang to victory.

Schomberg was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Penetang eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Kings' penalty kill unit could not stop the Cougars' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Penetang also got a goal from Craig Robinson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Penetang were Kyle Burns, who had two and Sammy Gagnon, Matt Fischer, Myles York, Mac Flewelling, and Michael Paul, who each chipped in one.

Schomberg forced Penetang goalie Adam Redgate to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Cougars were helped by Declan Lampe, who registered one goal. Lampe scored 24 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Schomberg. Christian Muenz assisted on the tally. Schomberg also had goals scored by Arran Macdonald and JP Crescenzi, who scored one goal each. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Justin Formenton, who had two and Kiefer McIntosh and Nicholas Chaykowsky, who contributed one a piece.

Redgate rejected 34 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Taylor Ewart recorded 35 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
