Penetang's Fischer deadly on offense in 7-3 win against Schomberg

Matt Fischer had two goals to lead the Penetang Kings to a 7-3 victory over the Schomberg Cougars.

Fischer found the back of the net on the power play 3:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penetang and again while 8:47 into the first to make the score 3-1 Penetang.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Schomberg faces elimination next time out.

Penetang forced the Cougars goalie Garett Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Penetang also got points from Ryan Shaw, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Craig Robinson, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Mac Flewelling, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Penetang also got a goal from Ryan Young as well. In addition, Penetang received assists from Jordan Schwartz, who had two and Sammy Gagnon and Kyle Burns, who contributed one a piece.

Schomberg kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Redgate made 29 saves on 32 shots.

The Cougars were helped by Blake Culley, who racked up one goal. Culley scored 8:03 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Penetang. Others who scored for Schomberg included Kiefer McIntosh and Colton Wood, who scored one goal each. More assists for Schomberg came via Bobby Quinn, who had one and Arran Macdonald, who had two.

Penetang incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Taylor recorded 36 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
