Schomberg survives Penetang comeback, wins 4-3

The Schomberg Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Penetang Kings on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Arran Macdonald put Schomberg up 4-2 in the second period, but Penetang pulled to within one on Austin Fischer's tally 8:51 into the third period.

The win moved the Cougars to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

The Kings' power play was ineffective against Schomberg's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Cougars' offense rang up 37 shots on Penetang's net.

Others who scored for Schomberg included JP Crescenzi, Chris Wilson, and Nicholas Chaykowsky, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Schomberg were Kiefer McIntosh and Blake Culley, who contributed one a piece and Colton Wood and Justin Formenton, who each chipped in two.

The Kings kept Schomberg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garett Taylor made 40 saves on 43 shots.

Penetang was led by Craig Robinson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Robinson scored 15:47 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Hayden Cole assisted on the tally. Penetang also got a goal from Matt Fischer as well. More assists for Penetang came via Jack Scanlan, Nate Archer, Matt Meher, and Ryan Young, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Adam Redgate made 33 saves for the Kings on 37 shots. Penetang incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
