Penetang blows out Schomberg, 7-4Penetang Memorial CC Fri, Feb 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Penetang Kings had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-4 win over the Schomberg Cougars. The win gave Penetang a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Ryan Young was all over the ice for the Kings, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Young scored the first of his two goals at 15 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Penetang. Mac Flewelling picked up the assist. Young's next tally made the score 4-1 Penetang with 13:51 left in the second period. Penetang stifled Schomberg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings forced the Cougars goalie Taylor Ewart to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Penetang also got points from Flewelling, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Penetang included Jordan Schwartz, Ryan Shaw, Myles York, and Craig Robinson, who each put in one. More assists for Penetang came via Hayden Cole, Jack Scanlan, Nate Archer, Kyle Burns, and Matt Fischer, who each chipped in one. Schomberg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Penetang power plays. The Cougars were helped by Arran Macdonald, who grabbed two goals. Macdonald scored the first of his two goals at 5:40 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Penetang. JP Crescenzi assisted on the tally. Macdonald's next tally made the score 6-3 Penetang with 7:32 left in the third period. Brandon Yorke picked up the assist. Schomberg additionally got points from Christian Muenz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Schomberg also got a goal from Mitch Safaric as well. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Garett Taylor, who had one. Penetang's Adam Redgate stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Kings incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Taylor Ewart made 24 saves for Schomberg on 31 shots. The Cougars totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Team's Joel Wright and Yorke were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
