The Lambeth Lancers relied on the scoring touch of Randy Hicks, who netted two goals, to beat the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs, 4-0. Hicks found the back of the net 13:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lambeth and again while 10:47 into the second to make the score 2-0 Lambeth.The win gave Lambeth a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Lancers were boosted by JP Trudell, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Trudell certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.0 entering the contest. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:16 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Lambeth put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mt.Brydges to score on any of its seven power plays. The Lancers kept the Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dane Gubbels made 41 saves on 45 shots. Lambeth's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Lambeth also had goals scored by Nick North and Warren Hargraves, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lambeth came via Ryan Pennington, Tanner Smith, Mike Golinowski, Mitch Furlonger, Cody Wuytenburg, and Mitch Thomas, who each chipped in one. The Lancers totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Lambeth, Matt Schurr was ejected from the game. Mt.Brydges ended with 29 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan McDonnell was ejected from the game.
